Saúdo, como membro fundador da Academia Internacional de Bruxismo, os membros que adentram nossas fileiras, enriquecendo-as com suas qualidades morais, sociais e científicas. A academia nasce com a vocação de ser uma interface de discussão do conhecimento técnico-científico, além da tecnologia e da prática clínica que envolve o tema bruxismo em todas as suas extensões. As ideias estão abertas; divulgar internacionalmente trabalhos de pesquisadores, professores, especialistas e clínicos, a correspondência com as expectativas dos "novos" profissionais, aos novos tempos, possibilitar ampla comunicação entre os diversos segmentos da medicina multidisciplinar e motivar permanentemente a reflexão. A inquietude, a complexidade e as exigências fundamentais dos atuais mercados de trabalho, o interesse e a qualidade do ensino e a valorização de nossa carreira, são temas urgentes a serem debatidos pela classe na maioria dos países.
Por outro lado, em todo mundo, estatísticas mostram um marcante aumento da incidência de disfunções e dores no segmento cefálico, graves distúrbios do sono, ansiedade, dependência de medicamentos, etc., e grande carência de profissionais qualificados para o atendimento desta população. As DTMs, a Dor Orofacial e o Bruxismo, claramente, fazem parte deste bloco de emergência, por motivos óbvios: alta prevalência na população, elevado custo social - reconhecidamente, os esforços dos profissionais dedicados a este tema tem elevado ainda mais a nobreza da nossa profissão.
Contudo, até o momento, estes temas não são tópicos obrigatórios do conteúdo programático das instituições de ensino de Odontologia na grande maioria dos países. Lamentavelmente, isto resulta em total falta de preparo do dentista para reconhecer e orientar os pacientes portadores de tais distúrbios e mesmo trabalhar em nível de colaboração multidisciplinar, situações que invariavelmente, frustram os pacientes.
Temos todo entusiasmo em discutir estes valores, acreditamos firmemente que podemos encontrar ideias viáveis e úteis ao crescimento comum.
A academia de bruxismo nasce inspirada pelos ares da nova década, e desafia que a nossa nobre classe seja ainda mais unida e que possamos, juntos ajudar a construção da odontologia do futuro. A força coletiva, sob o cuidado dos diversos membros e convidados da academia vai se ampliar e consolidar na construção ininterrupta de um novo tempo.
Esperamos que os avanços científicos não sirvam para separar e privilegiar grupos, mas para encarar o desafio de uma ponte social acessível, permitida a todos que tiverem o mesmo sonho de transcender barreiras, sem diminuir a riqueza da individualidade, para multiplicar a saúde e o bem-estar social.

I welcome, as a founding member of the International Academy of Bruxism, members who enter our ranks, enriching them with their moral qualities, scientific and social. The academy is born with the vocation to be a platform for discussion of technical and scientific knowledge, and technology and clinical practice that involves the theme bruxism in all its branches. The ideas are open, spread internationally by researchers, teachers, specialists and clinicians to match the expectations of "new" professionals, new era, enabling full communication between the various segments of Medicine and motivate multidisciplinary permanently reflection. The restlessness, the complexity and basic requirements of today's labor markets, interest and quality of education and appreciation of our careers, are urgent topics to be discussed by the class in most countries. Moreover, throughout the world, statistics show a marked increase in the incidence of dysfunction and pain in the head, severe sleep disturbance, anxiety, drug addiction, etc.. And a great lack of skilled care for this population. The TMD, Bruxism and Orofacial Pain, clearly, belongs in the block of emergency, for obvious reasons: high prevalence in the population, high social cost - admittedly, the work of professionals dedicated to this issue has further raised the nobility of our profession . However, until now, these themes are not mandatory topics of the syllabus of educational institutions of Dentistry in most countries. Unfortunately, this results in total lack of preparation for dentists to recognize and guide the patients with such disorders and even work at the level of multidisciplinary collaboration, situations invariably frustrate patients. We have great enthusiasm in discussing these values, we firmly believe that we can find viable and useful ideas to the common growth. The Academy of bruxism was born inspired by the air of the new decade, and challenges that our noble class to be even more united and we can together help build the future of dentistry. The collective force, under the care of several members and guests of the academy will expand and consolidate the uninterrupted construction of a new era. We hope that scientific advances do not serve to separate and focus groups, but to face the challenge of a social bridge accessible, open to all who have the same dream of transcending barriers, without diminishing the wealth of individuality, to multiply the health and well- welfare.
